LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech players have been banned from having Twitter pages.
Coach Mike Leach announced the move Monday after one of his linebackers noted the coach's tardiness to a Sunday meeting, a day after the Red Raiders lost 29-28 to No. 12 Houston.
According to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, linebacker Marlon Williams asked on his Twitter account why he was still in a meeting room when "the head coach can't even be on time." That tweet has been deleted.
Offensive lineman Brandon Carter also had a Twitter page. After the loss to the Cougars, he tweeted: "This is not how I saw our season."
On Sunday, Carter was suspended indefinitely for violating team rules and his Twitter page was nowhere to be found.

Police: McNair shot dead in sleep by girlfriend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Former NFL star Steve McNair was shot dead in his sleep last week by a 20-year-old girlfriend distraught about mounting financial problems and her belief that he was seeing someone else, police said Wednesday. Investigators may never know why Kazemi shot McNair four times as he dozed on a sofa early Saturday before turning the gun on herself, Police Chief Ronal Serpas said.
But interviews with friends revealed that she was making payments on two cars, her rent was doubling and she suspected the married McNair was having a second affair with another young woman.
She told a friend on Friday that "My life is a ball of s--- and I should end it," Serpas said.
Police earlier had labeled McNair's death a homicide, but waited for further tests and the revelations about Kazemi's personal problems before concluding that she pulled the trigger in a condominium McNair rented with a friend.
McNair, 36, a quarterback for the Tennessee Titans most of his career, met Kazemi six months ago at a restaurant where she was a waitress and his family often ate. She seemed happy and eager to build a life with him, but something went wrong.
"We do know that she was clearly sending a message during the last five to seven days of her life that things were going bad quickly," Serpas said, though there was no indication she told anyone she planned to harm McNair.
Serpas said detectives learned that Kazemi recently found out about another young woman she thought McNair was romantically involved with and had even followed that woman home, though she did not confront her.
Serpas said police believe McNair was asleep when he was killed because there were no defensive wounds. After shooting McNair in the head, Kazemi apparently shot him twice in the chest before shooting him again in the head and then shooting herself. The gun was found underneath her.
She sat next to his body and tried to position herself to fall into his lap when she died. She did, but her body slid to the floor and ended up at McNair's feet, Serpas said. The gun was found underneath her.
Kazemi's family told reporters that the woman was so confident McNair was divorcing his wife of 12 years that she was preparing to sell her furniture and move in with him.
But associate Mike Mu, who has worked with McNair's charitable association for years, said McNair's wife, Mechelle McNair, "didn't know who this girl is." No records of divorce proceedings have surfaced.
Two days before the shooting, police stopped Kazemi driving the Cadillac Escalade sport utility vehicle that McNair had given her for her birthday in May.
According to an arrest affidavit, Kazemi had bloodshot eyes and alcohol on her breath. She refused a breath test and told an officer "she was not drunk, she was high." She was charged with DUI. McNair was with her but not charged. He later made her bail.
Serpas said that even though both her name and McNair's were on the Cadillac's title, she was apparently responsible for making payments. She was also making payments on another car after she couldn't sell it.

Television networks planning Jackson coverage

NBC executives changed their minds Sunday and decided to join other networks that will televise Michael Jackson's memorial service live this week.
NBC joins ABC, CNN, MSNBC and E! Entertainment in offering the ceremony live. It's set for 10 a.m. PDT (1700 GMT) Tuesday at Los Angeles' Staples Center..
NBC had initially planned only a one-hour prime-time special on Tuesday night, but said Sunday it would also cover the event live. It was not immediately clear who would anchor..

Jackson Doc Mum on Administering Anesthesia

The lawyer for the doctor who was at Michael Jackson's home the day he died tells TMZ he did not give Jackson OxyContin or Demerol that day, but he wouldn't say the same about the powerful anesthesia found at the singer's home.
Dr. Conrad Murray was interviewed by LAPD detectives a week ago Saturday. Law enforcement sources tell us the information Dr. Murray gave police regarding drugs at Jackson's home was enough for cops to secure a search warrant from a judge. A search warrant can only be issued if there is probable cause to believe a crime has been committed.
Law enforcement sources say when police searched the home, they found the powerful anesthesia Propofol. The drug was specifically labeled Propofol and there was no indication it had been prescribed to anyone.
Edward Chernoff reiterated to us his client did not administer Demerol or OxyContin to Jackson the day he died. But Chernoff would not take the same stand on Propofol. Chernoff told us, "I have no statement on whether the Dr. prescribed or administered Propofol."
Chernoff added, "We're confident whatever the doctor prescribed did not kill Michael Jackson."
As we reported last week, cops obtained a search warrant the day after Jackson died. A second warrant was issued two days after Dr. Murray's interview -- that's the one that led cops to the Propofol. The second warrant may have been necessary if the first warrant only covered prescription medications.
The LAPD and the DEA are on the hunt to determine how the Propofol ended up in Jackson's home. The drug should never be administered outside a hospital.
Dr. Murray's lawyer could not be immediately reached for comment.

As he developed and aged within youth, he felt the sting of premature mortality otherwise known as adolescence. He stopped being cute and developed acne. Gone was the cute youngster. And before he had a chance to live among us mortals, to go through the unique growing pains many child stars experience, Off The Wall happened and he was once again a superstar, handsome and loved. I think it’s this moment, just before he re-entered the stratosphere he decided: I’ll never experience anything like adolescence again. And here, Michael Jackson’s maturation was arrested forever.
He would cease to age. He would join the Lost Boys and reject biology, turning the aging process into a permutation of youth. In his mind, he’d allowed youth to slip from his grasp once and, in what can only be described as irony, was too old and wise to allow that to happen again.
Michael was addicted to youth. It wasn’t just the commodity he traded in his whole career; it was the fount from which he found salvation. In the youth embodied by children, “youth” as Michael understood it, there was love and there was truth. Like any addict, Michael craved it excessively. Does that mean he didn’t care about kids? Hardly, I think Michael was a genuine champion for children, but in that caring seemed to be an impulse that could only be described as covetous. And that, coupled with a mind that chooses to identify with the youth of a child and a body over whom the mind does not matter, led to increasingly bizarre–and possibly criminal–behavior.
It’s not enough to say Michael “missed out” on his youth. No; it was co-opted by individuals in the pursuit of profit. Early on he would learn the lesson that defined his life: Youth sells. As he aged–in many respects, it’s hard to say he “matured”–the prime directive was maintaining a youthful appeal accented by a dose of sex and, at times, righteous indignation. That prime directive will forever accent the darker regions of his legend.
Despite maturing magnificently as an artist, despite being on a short list of people known the world over, I doubt Michael Jackson ever escaped the shadow of little Michael and the Jackson Five. Millions of fans and millions of dollars could not return him to what he once was: Young.

(MYFOX NATIONAL) - A public memorial for Michael Jackson will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. There will be 17,500 free tickets available for the memorial service for fans. 11,000 tickets will be available for the Staples Center and then 6,500 other tickets will available for the Nokia Theater, where a simulcast will be screened.
Fans must register at staplescenter.com for a chance at the tickets. The Web site can be accessed now and will be available until Saturday. After 6 p.m. Saturday, 8,750 names will be randomly selected to receive two tickets each. Notifications will go out on Sunday. Those selected will obtain their tickets via Ticketmaster on Monday.
Officials said that no tickets would be sold for the event.
The organizers also hope ticket holders will not try to profit from the event. Ken Sunshine, Jackson family spokesman, said at the press conference, "Anyone who tries to take advantage of this system: shame on you."
Officials stressed that there would be no access to the area around the Staples Center without a ticket and wristband. They said that there would be no broadcast outside the venues. A worldwide video feed will be broadcast on television and online, though.
There will be no funeral procession. And there was no word on whether Jackson's body would be part of the memorial. Details about the memorial were not disclosed.
The Staples Center is a 20,000-seat arena. Jackson rehearsed at the center two days before he died last Thursday. Video footage of that rehearsal performance was released by AEG Live on Thursday . He was scheduled to perform in London for 50 sold-out performances.

Michael Jackson's Mother Late Night Shopping at Target

Jun 28 - Katherine Jackson, the mother of the late singer Michael Jackson, has been caught on video, shopping at her local Target store with bodyguards at 11pm on Saturday (Jun 27).
Earlier on Saturday Michael Jackson's family had gathered at his parents' suburban Los Angeles home to make funeral arrangements for the troubled King of Pop.
The entertainer's father, Joseph, issued a statement calling his son's death "one of the darkest moments of our lives" and urging fans not to despair.
Jackson's body was returned to his family on Friday night after an examination by the Los Angeles County coroner's office failed to determine what killed the 50-year-old entertainer, pending toxicology tests that were expected to take weeks.

LOS ANGELES – The final act of Michael Jackson's life came into clearer focus Friday, a picture of a fallen superstar working out with TV's "Incredible Hulk" and under the care of his own private cardiologist as he tried to get his 50-year-old body in shape for a grueling bid to reclaim his glory.
While the exact circumstances of his death remained unclear, early clues suggested he may simply have pushed his heart too far.
Police said they had towed the doctor's BMW from Jackson's home because it may include medication or other evidence, and a source familiar with the situation told The Associated Press that a heart attack appeared to have caused the cardiac arrest that led to the pop icon's sudden death.
As grief for the King of Pop poured out from the icons of music to heartbroken fans, and the world came to grips with losing one of the most luminous celebrities of all time, an autopsy showed no sign of trauma or foul play to Jackson, who died Thursday at UCLA Medical Center after paramedics not could not revive him.
The AP source who said Jackson apparently suffered a heart attack was not authorized to speak publicly and requested anonymity. Jackson's brother Jermaine had said the pop singer apparently went into cardiac arrest — which often, but not always, happens because of a heart attack.
Authorities said they spoke with the doctor briefly Thursday and Friday and expected to meet with him again soon. Police stressed that the doctor, identified by the Los Angeles Times as cardiologist Conrad Murray, was not a criminal suspect.
"We do not consider him to be uncooperative at this time," Beck said. "We think that he will assist us in coming to the truth of the facts in this case."
Craig Harvey, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner, said there were no signs of foul play in the autopsy and further tests would be needed to determine cause of death. He said Jackson was taking some unspecified prescription medication but gave few other details.
Meanwhile, a 911 call released by fire officials shed light on the desperate effort at the mansion to save Jackson's life before paramedics arrived Thursday afternoon. Jackson died later at UCLA Medical Center.
In the recording, an unidentified caller pleads with authorities to send help, offering no clues about why Jackson was stricken. He tells a dispatcher that Jackson's doctor is performing CPR.
"He's pumping his chest," the caller says, "but he's not responding to anything."
Asked by the dispatcher whether anyone saw what happened, the caller answers: "No, just the doctor, sir. The doctor has been the only one there."
The president of the company promoting Jackson's shows said Murray was Jackson's personal physician for three years. Jackson insisted Murray accompany him to London, said Randy Phillips, president of AEG Live.
Phillips quoted Jackson as saying: "Look, this whole business revolves around me. I'm a machine, and we have to keep the machine well-oiled." Phillips said Jackson submitted to at least five hours of physicals that insurers had insisted on.
On Friday, the autopsy was completed in a matter of hours, but an official cause of death could take up to six weeks while medical examiners await toxicology tests. No funeral plans had been made public.
Jackson had remained out of the public spotlight during intense rehearsals for the London concerts, but those with access said he was upbeat and seemingly energized by his planned comeback. Ken Ehrlich, executive producer of the Grammys, said he watched Jackson dance energetically as recently as Wednesday.
"There was this one moment, he was moving across the stage and he was doing these trademark Michael moves, and I know I got this big grin on my face, and I started thinking to myself, 'You know, it's been years since I've seen that,'" he said.
Lou Ferrigno, the star of "The Incredible Hulk," said he had been working out with Jackson for the past several months.
Still, Jackson's health had been known to be precarious in recent years, and one family friend said Friday that he had warned the entertainer's family about his use of painkillers.
"I said one day we're going to have this experience. And when Anna Nicole Smith passed away, I said we cannot have this kind of thing with Michael Jackson," Brian Oxman, a former Jackson attorney and family friend, told NBC's "Today" show. "The result was I warned everyone, and lo and behold, here we are. I don't know what caused his death. But I feared this day, and here we are."
Oxman claimed Jackson had prescription drugs at his disposal to help with pain suffered when he broke his leg after he fell off a stage and for broken vertebrae in his back.
The worldwide wave of mourning for Jackson continued unabated for the man who revolutionized pop music and moonwalked his way into entertainment legend.
"My heart, my mind are broken," said Elizabeth Taylor, who was one of Jackson's closest friends and married one of her husbands at a lavish wedding at the pop star's Neverland Ranch in 1991. She said she had heard the news as she was preparing to travel to London for Jackson's comeback show, and added, "I can't imagine life without him."
Hundreds made a pilgrimage to the Jackson family's compound in Los Angeles, leaving flowers and messages of love. They did the same at his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and at the home in Los Angeles' Holmby Hills where Jackson was stricken. Some camped out overnight.
In New York, people stopped at Harlem's Apollo Theater, where Jackson had performed as a child with his brothers in one of rock's first bubblegum supergroups, the Jackson 5.
Scores of celebrities who knew or worked with Jackson — or were simply awed by him — issued statements of mourning. Some came through publicists and others through emotional postings on social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook, where countless everyday fans were sharing memories as well.
"I truly hope he is memorialized as the '83 moonwalking, MTV owning, mesmerizing, unstoppable, invincible Michael Jackson," said John Mayer. Miley Cyrus called him "my inspiration."
And Diana Ross, the former lead singer of the Supremes who introduced the Jackson 5 at their debut on "The Ed Sullivan Show" in 1969, said she could not stop crying. "I am unable to imagine this," she said. "My heart is hurting."
His two ex-wives both said they were devastated. One of them, Lisa Marie Presley, posted a long, emotional statement on her MySpace page in which she said her ex-husband had confided to her 14 years ago that he feared dying young and under tragic circumstances, just as her father, Elvis Presley, had.
"I promptly tried to deter him from the idea, at which point he just shrugged his shoulders and nodded almost matter of fact as if to let me know, he knew what he knew and that was kind of that," Presley said.
Presley's father, the King of Rock 'n' Roll to Jackson's King of Pop, died in 1977 at age 42 of a drug-related death.
At rehearsals for Sunday's Black Entertainment Awards show, stars like Beyonce, Wyclef Jean and Ne-Yo were frantically revamping their performances in an effort to turn the evening into a Michael Jackson tribute.
"There's a direct line from Ne-Yo to Michael Jackson," said executive producer Stephen Hill. "There's a direct line from Beyonce to Michael Jackson. There's a direct line from Jay-Z to Michael Jackson. I think they'll want to pay tribute in their own way."
When he was on trial on child molestation charges in 2005, Jackson appeared gaunt and had recurring back problems that he attributed to stress. His trial was interrupted several times by hospital visits, and Jackson once even appeared late to court dressed in his pajamas after an emergency room visit.
After his acquittal, Jackson's prosecutor argued against returning some items that had been seized from Neverland, the Santa Barbara County estate Jackson had converted into a children's playland. Among the items were syringes, the powerful painkiller Demerol and other prescription drugs.
Demerol carries a long list of warnings to users. The government warns that mixing it with certain other drugs can lead to reactions including slowed or stopped breathing, shock and cardiac arrest.

LOS ANGELES – The final act of Michael Jackson's life came into clearer focus Friday, a picture of a fallen superstar working out with TV's "Incredible Hulk" and under the care of his own private cardiologist as he tried to get his 50-year-old body in shape for a grueling bid to reclaim his glory.
While the exact circumstances of his death remained unclear, early clues suggested he may simply have pushed his heart too far.
Police said they had towed the doctor's BMW from Jackson's home because it may include medication or other evidence, and a source familiar with the situation told The Associated Press that a heart attack appeared to have caused the cardiac arrest that led to the pop icon's sudden death.
As grief for the King of Pop poured out from the icons of music to heartbroken fans, and the world came to grips with losing one of the most luminous celebrities of all time, an autopsy showed no sign of trauma or foul play to Jackson, who died Thursday at UCLA Medical Center after paramedics not could not revive him.
The AP source who said Jackson apparently suffered a heart attack was not authorized to speak publicly and requested anonymity. Jackson's brother Jermaine had said the pop singer apparently went into cardiac arrest — which often, but not always, happens because of a heart attack.
Authorities said they spoke with the doctor briefly Thursday and Friday and expected to meet with him again soon. Police stressed that the doctor, identified by the Los Angeles Times as cardiologist Conrad Murray, was not a criminal suspect.
"We do not consider him to be uncooperative at this time," Beck said. "We think that he will assist us in coming to the truth of the facts in this case."
Craig Harvey, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner, said there were no signs of foul play in the autopsy and further tests would be needed to determine cause of death. He said Jackson was taking some unspecified prescription medication but gave few other details.
Meanwhile, a 911 call released by fire officials shed light on the desperate effort at the mansion to save Jackson's life before paramedics arrived Thursday afternoon. Jackson died later at UCLA Medical Center.
In the recording, an unidentified caller pleads with authorities to send help, offering no clues about why Jackson was stricken. He tells a dispatcher that Jackson's doctor is performing CPR.
"He's pumping his chest," the caller says, "but he's not responding to anything."
Asked by the dispatcher whether anyone saw what happened, the caller answers: "No, just the doctor, sir. The doctor has been the only one there."
The president of the company promoting Jackson's shows said Murray was Jackson's personal physician for three years. Jackson insisted Murray accompany him to London, said Randy Phillips, president of AEG Live.
Phillips quoted Jackson as saying: "Look, this whole business revolves around me. I'm a machine, and we have to keep the machine well-oiled." Phillips said Jackson submitted to at least five hours of physicals that insurers had insisted on.
On Friday, the autopsy was completed in a matter of hours, but an official cause of death could take up to six weeks while medical examiners await toxicology tests. No funeral plans had been made public.

Wow...I am in awh! Michael and I are just short of a year apart! He was the first boy I had a crush on when I saw him perform ABC and When I Had You. Off the Wall and Thriller had to be the greatest albums I ever had. Thriller was the All Time Biggest Selling Album. Due to my limited resources, I resorted back to "free television" a month ago. However, I the DTV transition came faster than I anticipated and there was a day or two delay in receiving my Government coupons to purchase analog converters for my televisions.
Digital broadcasting allows stations to offer improved picture and sound quality, and digital is much more efficient than analog. For example, rather than being limited to providing one analog program, a broadcaster is able to offer a super sharp “high definition” (HD) digital program or multiple “standard definition” (SD) digital programs simultaneously through a process called “multicasting.” Multicasting allows broadcast stations to offer several channels of digital programming at the same time, using the same amount of spectrum required for one analog program. So, for example, while a station broadcasting in analog on channel 7 is only able to offer viewers one program, a station broadcasting in digital on channel 7 can offer viewers one digital program on channel 7-1, a second digital program on channel 7-2, a third digital program on channel 7-3, and so on. This means more programming choices for viewers. Further, DTV can provide interactive video and data services that are not possible with analog technology.
My Spirit impressed upon me that this transition is spiritually significant. The Universe is in transition as well. We are now operating under a new transmission. I am receiving "clearer revelations" during meditation and have the ability to interact with my inner spirit like never before.

The Makeover
I have been unemployed for over 4 months. During this time, my income has decreased to 1/5 of my salary. My family has had to make changes in our lifestyle due to this drastic change. I consider myself to be Spiritual and not religious, therefore, I rely on my inner spirit to guide me. Yesterday, while watching a episode of Oprah "Spirituality 101", I began to receive various revelations regarding the direction of my life as well as this great country, the United States.
It occurred to me that the present economy is similar to a game of Monopoly. When someone gains control of the money, property, etc., the game is over as the other players are unable to participate. I declared, those with the money must release it so everyone can participate in the game. Shortly thereafter, a news presentation was on my television speaking about a billionaire, Peter G. Peterson, devoted $1 billion of his wealth to tackle some of the critical challenges threatening the nation's well-being. Nearly 30 years ago, he chaired the commission that recommended that foundations be required to give away at least 5% of their assets annually, a rule the government adopted and which still holds today. The spirit impressed upon me that this country is in the process of a "Makeover" as well as everyone who has been struggling with lost jobs, savings, homes, cars, etc. A Makeover is defined as: "An overall treatment to improve the appearance or change the image. " The U.S. is in that process with a new, first ever, african american president and first family, tackling an enormous deficit, wars, etc. President Obama is changing the "appearance and changing the image" of the United States and the way other countries preceive us. Green energy, universal healthcare, etc. Most of our industries are reevaluating the consumption, greed and wasteful spending that has deteriorated our economy and way of life.
Makeovers require change, renovation and sometime distruction of the old to create the new. It is with this message, I decided to share this revelation:
- Make a list of all the things you want to "Makeover" in your life (physical, mentally, spiritually, culturally, financially, global, etc. The sky is the limit, so look at it from the point of view money and resources are no object...
- Review the list daily for affirmations
